President Buhari, others dragged to court over MTN fine reduction

The dissident in his suit requested that the court give a request to set aside the unlawful diminishment of the fine on MTN by the Nigerian government



The Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari has been dragged to court over the late fine lessening conceded to one of the media communications organizations, MTN.

In a suit recorded by a human rights dissident and legal counselor Edward Omaga, the president, the priest of correspondence Adebayo Shittu and three others have been blamed for "illicitly" diminishing the fine forced on MTN.

Others participated in the suit are the lawyer general of the league, Abubakar Malami; the Nigerian Communications Communication (NCC) and MTN Nigeria Communications restricted.

The suit with Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/335/2016, documented before Justice Abdulkadir Kafarati of the Federal High Court in Abuja looked for among

The suit with Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/335/2016, documented before Justice Abdulkadir Kafarati of the Federal High Court in Abuja looked for among others, a request of the court to set aside the unlawful lessening of the fine on MTN.

Omaga spoke to by his guidance John Oboh likewise requested that the court propel the NCC to repudiate the working permit of MTN for neglecting to pay the forced fine as at the due date.


A year ago, the Nigerian government through the NCC hammered a fine of $5.2 billion on the monster correspondence system for damaging administrative laws.

The fine, the NCC said must be paid inside a due date of December 31, 2015.

Nonetheless, following eight months of the declaration, the NCC said it had diminished the fine to N330 billion which can be paid inside a time of three years.

Oboh had before presented that his customer lost his cousin, Boniface Okwoli and a law office in Kaduna state to rebellion.
